Paddling on the Thames

The Riverside Outdoor Centre provides staff and equipment to support the delivery of outdoor and adventure activities at Oxfordshire's Early Intervention Hubs, as well as independent, voluntary and school groups.

Activities take place on the Thames, at the Riverside Centre itself, as well as at Oxfordshire County Council's Outdoor Centres. The Riverside Centre can also come to you, with equipment including portable climbing and scrambling walls.

Activities on offer include:

  • Canoeing, kayaking, paddling
  • Trips, camping and expeditions
  • Climbing, scrambling and abseiling
  • Walking, hiking and orineteering
  • Bushcraft, outdoor cooking

We are situated on the banks of the River Thames, one mile south of Oxford city centre. The main activities are water based. Trips and expeditions away from the  centre are held most weekends. Throughout the summer months a full range of canoeing and kayaking courses are held on the River Thames - from beginners to instructors standard.

Provides courses and activities for junior members, young people, adults and families.
